From the United Methodist Book of Discipline 2004, "The mission of the Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ." Further, "the mission of the Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ by proclaiming the good news of God's grace and thus seeking the fulfillment of God's reign and realm in the world." Plank Chapel United Methodist Church also affirms the Scriptural basis of our mission as stated in the Discipline, "Jesus' words in Matthew 28:19-20 provide the Church with our mission: 'Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you."
